METRO · OKLAHOMA CITY / TINKER CORRIDOR

Oklahoma City.
Where the Air Force keeps its fleet airworthy.

Where the depot never closes

Tinker Air Force Base hosts the Air Force Sustainment Center and the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, the largest maintenance, repair, and overhaul operation in the Department of Defense, alongside the FAA's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and a private aerospace and MRO cluster that keeps growing around them. The cleared subcontractors that support depot-level sustainment need accredited facilities that can hold a maintenance cadence, not a build that assumes a slower program. Salian Defense delivers turnkey ICD-705 facilities and mission software across the Oklahoma City metro.

I.WHAT WE DELIVER

One contract for a depot-aligned build cadence.

Sustainment work runs on a steady, predictable schedule; the contractor stack around it often does not match that steadiness. Salian delivers the facility, the accreditation, the industrial-security support, and the air-gapped software built to run inside the boundary on a single contract, so a program office is not coordinating a build crew, an accreditation consultant, and an FSO shop against the same milestone. The applicable Accrediting Official or Cognizant Security Authority accredits the facility; Salian prepares, builds, tests, documents and coordinates with the AO/CSA through that determination.

II.LOCAL MISSION CONTEXT
/ WHO DRIVES CLEARED DEMAND HERE

A depot, an aeronautical center, and the private cluster that grew up around both.

Tinker Air Force Base is headquarters to the Air Force Sustainment Center, which oversees depot maintenance at three air logistics complexes Air Force-wide, and is home to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex itself, the largest maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in the Department of Defense at roughly 10,300 personnel, performing depot work on the KC-135, B-1B, B-52, E-3, and E-6 fleets and their engines. A few miles away, the FAA's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center occupies 1,100 acres and more than 130 buildings and carries over 5,100 federal employees and contractors. Together those two anchors account for more than seventy percent of the region's aerospace employment and output; around them, the Greater Oklahoma City aerospace industry generates 8.8 billion dollars in output and supports more than 80,000 jobs. That is the demand base Salian builds for.

III.CLEARED WORKFORCE & FACILITY SUPPLY

A depot-scale workforce, and a facility market still catching up.

Oklahoma City's veteran and cleared-adjacent labor pool runs well above the national rate, driven largely by Tinker's own employment base and the private cluster around it.

Building stock around Tinker leans toward larger industrial and flex space built for hangar and MRO work rather than the office towers of a coastal metro, and the Tinker Business & Industrial Park, a 40-plus member cluster of aerospace and defense companies leasing directly adjacent to the base at below-market rates, is the closest thing the region has to a purpose-built cleared-adjacent campus. GSA has separately solicited office leases in the OKC metro in the six-figure square-footage range, reflecting a substantial federal footprint that still needs secure build-out rather than assuming it already exists.

IV.SITE SELECTION & DELIVERY

What actually moves an Oklahoma City site decision.

Proximity to Tinker still wins for anything tied to a daily depot schedule, which is why Midwest City and Del City carry most of the dedicated cleared-adjacent inventory. Norman, roughly 30 miles south and closer to the University of Oklahoma's engineering pipeline, is the better call when a program is optimizing for talent over base proximity. Programs serving both Tinker and the FAA's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center tend to split the difference across greater OKC.

On delivery: central Oklahoma's spring severe-weather season pushes exterior envelope and RF-shielding work into a narrower construction window and raises the wind-load design values a build needs to carry, a real and public building-code consideration rather than an optional one. Flat terrain and the I-40 / I-35 interchange make modular and CONEX delivery logistics straightforward once that seasonal window is respected.

›COMMON QUESTIONS

Oklahoma City, answered.

Why does Oklahoma City specifically need cleared facility delivery near Tinker?
Tinker Air Force Base hosts the headquarters of the Air Force Sustainment Center, which oversees depot maintenance across three air logistics complexes Air Force-wide, and the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex itself, the largest maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in the Department of Defense, employing roughly 10,300 people. Around that anchor, the Greater Oklahoma City aerospace industry generates 8.8 billion dollars in output and supports more than 80,000 jobs, including a private MRO sector of 78 companies and over 4,700 workers. That is a depot cadence and a private-sector cluster that most facility contractors serving the coasts do not price correctly.
Does Oklahoma's severe-weather season affect SCIF construction timelines or specifications?
It affects scheduling and wind-load specification more than most metros. Central Oklahoma sits in a recognized severe-weather corridor with a spring tornado season, and exterior envelope and RF-shielding work gets sequenced around it rather than through it. The ICD-705 standard does not change; the construction calendar and the wind-load design values do.
Is Midwest City the only real site option, or does Norman and greater OKC make sense too?
Midwest City, Del City, and the ring immediately around Tinker are the default answer for anything tied tightly to the base's daily schedule; the Tinker Business & Industrial Park itself is a 40-plus member aerospace cluster built for exactly that adjacency, at below-market rates. Norman, about 30 miles south and closer to the University of Oklahoma's research and engineering pipeline, makes more sense for a program prioritizing talent pipeline over base proximity. Greater OKC in between suits companies serving both Tinker and the FAA's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.
Can an MRO subcontractor with no prior facility clearance enter Oklahoma City's cleared market?
Yes. The region's MRO and aerospace-engineering subcontractor base has grown faster than its cleared-facility footprint, and a meaningful share of that growth is companies with no prior FCL. Salian helps you identify and prepare for the sponsorship path, from the SF-328 through the DCSA review, so a first-time entrant can plan a credible timeline.
